Rug making has been popular in the Hamadan region (North West of Iran) for hundreds of years. According to the available documents, more than 400 years ago, Persian rugs were produced in this region. Today, carpet weaving is common in Hamadan, and thousands of carpet weavers work in carpet weaving workshops or at home, and Hamadan Rugs are very popular all over the world. Carpets with Herati design constitute a large part of carpet production in Hamedan. The most significant feature of the Hamedan carpet is not its design but its texture. Hamedan carpets are woven with a unique technique called the single weft.
Hossein Abad is one of the famous centers of Persian Rugs making where is located in the north of Hamadan. Hosseinabad rug is similar to Angela and Tuyserkan rugs. The main feature of the Hosseinabad rug is distinctive geometric, flowers, and plant motifs. Red, blue, and ivory are the main colors of Hosseinabad handmade rugs. This type of Persian rugs is usually woven on a very durable cotton warp and weft. Hosseinabad rugs are mostly woven in small sizes of 1 by 1.5 meters.

This is a beautiful and rare rural rug that was woven 30 years ago in Hosseinabad, Hamadan. This Persian rug is very strong and dense and is woven on a vertical loom. In the design of this handmade carpet, more than 8 different colors have been used including red, orange, blue, green, brown, ivory, indigo, and pink. The design of this rug is called Herati. Beautiful fish motifs created using different geometric shapes and colors are visible. The density of knots in this rug is 147 by 102 cm handmade rug is 160,000 knots per square meter.
The warp and weft that woolen knots are knotted on them are made out of cotton which makes this rug very long-lasting and durable. Moreover, this small Persian rug is suitable for small rooms, corridors, kitchens, and in front of the entrance door, and the combination of geometric patterns and cheerful colors in it fills the space with positive energies.
