Details & Story Of This Carpet

By Reza Derakhshesh (Persian Carpet Expert)

The Turkmen Rug, also known as Turkoman or Turkaman carpet, often, are woven by the Turkmen tribal living in Iran and Turkmenistan. They have knotted this rug about 30 years ago by hand. The main color of this rug is Laki (Red Carmine), which is a dark red color. Turkmen nomadic tribes and other Persians extract dye used in the carpet from natural elements like plants and flowers. Also, natural dyes used in Turkmen rugs don’t cause of allergic reactions and never change or fade out during years.
We know Turkmen hand-knotted rugs for their unique designs called “Chakhma Gol” design. The pattern is full of motifs of geometric shapes that vary from tribe to tribe. This rug is an authentic Turkmen rug with elegant knots and a beautiful pattern. Its warp and woof are from cotton, which makes it a durable and strong carpet and the loom is from wool.
